met andrew at douglas college (one of his many work places) and then headed to point roberts for dinner... pounded bak some cheap wine from the grocery store and enjoyed the sunset!

the first half of the day went very slowly (after being at the wedding the previous night)... took pokaroo for a walk up to jq's then on our way up to a late brunch on the drive we saw a big 2nd-hand sale in the vcc parking lot- jacquie's been on the hunt for a new bike so we stopped in but it was me that ended up with another bike! a banana seat bike to be more precise and i totally love it! once we got to commercial, there was a huge mass of people in the middle of the street and tons of cars driving in front of the crowd honking and waving portugese flags... portugal must've won a world cup game that day (i'm not much of a sports fan so i havent been following any of it). so, after our brunch i decided the new bike needed a good test run... jax and i rode along the seawall to granville island and stopped in at the brewery for a beer and to take in some of the jazz festival - caught the Ihor Kukurudza Trio... then we continued along the seawall till we hit a bike route up to broadway and there we grabbed our dinner at the greek festival... i ran out of batteries for my point-n-clik so i didnt get a shot of our grub -but we got a plate full of souvlaki, greek salad and 2 more beers for way less than it was supposed to be, our bonus for showing up right before the end!

after all that we stopped to pick up a cold white wine and went to meet up with andrew at the backyard party... i think all the heat caught up with us fast as that bottle went down real fast...

jag (yogi) &kam's wedding was our first indian wedding - it started at 10am at the sikh temple on scott rd&72 (my old hood) and we were warned to get there waaay later than the invitation time as there is a custom for the groom to arrive late to show respect that he isnt in a rush to get married . well i couldnt remember how late was late and we ended up missing the ceremony upstairs and arrived when everyone was on the main floor eating lunch. we ate some food and then went to the front of the temple to get pics of the bride and groom. it was late afternoon when we headed to the hwy home and while driving down 72ave, we scored a free bike and andrew got an amp! everyone was clearing out their garages and we ended up filling the car!

the reception was held at the south hall banquet palace... down on marine near knight street, there were about 1000 people on the guest list and i loved how well the room was setup. my personal fav table topping were the champagne flutes filled with jellybeans - yum! we arrived right at 7 when the invite told us since i didnt want another mishap like the morning... there were tasty east indian sweets on the tables and the open bar was serving us up (all of the grooms friends were seated directly in front of the bar). jag and kam didnt end up arriving till about 9pm but while we waited we watched bollywood music videos on the big projector screens and kept on getting drinks... the tummys were kept at bay with samosas, tandoori chicken and other finger foods being served.

once the bride and groom arrived they had a couple speeches and then there was a special dance with the family women... which then kept going into the dancing for all... all night!... the dinner opened and was absolutely delicious... even with 1000 people there (and mostly open seating - family had reserved tables) there were no line-ups at the open buffet (there were 2 identical buffets and both were double sided so everyone filtered through quite quickly!) and there was the most delicious scrambled paneer in a cream sauce ...mmmmmm...
the surprise dance of the evening was when yogi's picks came on... it changed the scene in an instant we went from listening to indian pop and then studdenly it was def leppard "pour some sugar on me"... and then young mc, plus i think there was a bon jovi song - it was really quite hilarious especially since most of us had downed quite a few drinks by that point. there was lots more dancing after that and when we left although the party had significantly gone down in size, i think there was still about 200 people there!

friday involved some rushed shopping to complete my outfit for the wedding the next morning... got a heads up on the best shops in the southfraser/main area from my friend kamal... finished the night off with more shopping - hit up ikea then over to the richmond night market... lots of tasty treats and some t-shirt scores.

andrew got a new old bike and tested it out in the hallway... we walked pokaroo (literally) across the street to the united nations "world urban festival" but we were denied entry as no dogs were supposed to be in there although i had already walked her thru there in the morning. ended up riding bikes up to the foundation having dinner with a bottle o wine, sugar pie, and white chocolate fondue...

my friend bella just got a new puppy, and it just so happens to be one of my favourite breeds, shiba inu... i met kaya on the weekend and had to make a date for andrew and pokaroo to meet this cutie... so summer solstice was spent at spanish banks... and although pokes showed her dislike in the beginning she did seem to mellow out as the evening went on. there will be more socializing in the future for sure!

(above) cia's bday... went out to white rock with my mum and my sister for her special day... a walk down the pier and lunch on the boathouse rooftop deck...

(above) fathers day... picked up andrews dad in n.van and then headed out to my parents... my gramps from idaho was visiting, so we had 3 dads in attendance.

(below) tanya's moving away at the end of the month -coming up fast- and she'll be away this weekend and we're away the following weekend, so we decided to have a get-together on our rooftop and ordered in 2 platters of sushi for dinner...

andrew moved his workshop from our home to a shared workspace! it's still nice and close for him but this way he has more room to expand the business and we have a lot more living area. his new spot has lots of parking right in front and no stairs/elevators, which makes things a lot easier when you're dealing with heavy music equipment (i have helped carry many a load of amps, guitars, keyboards etc)

the move pretty much occupied the whole day/night as i was working for the first 3/4 of the day (mk morn, sw afternoon) and there were just 3 peeps total till i got home. there was lotsa stuff to move but we did it... 2 boys, 2 girls: andrew and his new workspace roomie did all the heavy lifting and jacquie and i helped with the smaller boxes. had toko take-out for dindin and passed out early after the last load.

(shoulda taken some pics of the before and after but now i have to wait till i decide whats actually gonna go where. our place needs another full re-arranging!)

made a big yummy dinner at home with friends over to help, rode bikes up to anti-social for the parliament of owls art opening... i went home early and the rest of the gang continued to the next party... (very random pics)

thurs.june.15... thanks to patko for the free ticket... got to see the parallels open (since the french kicks couldnt get across the border) and the futureheads crazy rock show... lots of strobe lights = pinkfloyd 94 concert flashbak.

biked to 3rd beach... a heron was hanging out on the rocks (1st pic + btwn heads on the 4th pic) ...sun was setting... fire was burnin... music was playing... a couple acoustic guitars along with a violin... good times... bike cruise home along the seawall with the full moon arising...

it was such a gorgeous day and i made andrew go swimming with me at the 2nd beach outdoor pool in stanley park... it seems kinda funny to be swimming in a pool when you are literally right beside the ocean but i wanted to swim laps and know the distance (plus i'm not so good in cold water anymore -living in hawaii really spoiled that). unfortunately the camera batteries were dead and this was the only shot we got... we both played around with kick boards, went down the slide and i swam 200m with andrew kinda swim/walking beside me [the pool is only 5feet deep and since he's about6.5 feet his face always seems to be floating above the water]


next up was matt n jenny's engagement party... and the camera really only seemed to catch some of the more random moments of the evening... andrew and i rode our bikes over with our stuff to bbq in tote but when we arrived they'd already run outta charcoal... we ended up frying our burgers on the stovetop but not before i drank one beer and had it go straight to my head because of my empty stomach. partied in barry's new apt on wheels - the limo van... and chowed down on the dq icecream cake.

rode bikes to clubhouse and had a nice sushi dinner...
second stop was night market in chinatown and i guess i was so excited to chek out all the booths that i never stopped to take any pics - but i got lots of goodies (maybe i'll post a pic later of me sporting the outfit i acquired... sandals, tshirt and bracelet).
the next location was third beach... and the adventure there went on without me as i ducked out early round 1am and andrew didnt make it bak till about 5am (tour de stanley parc)

took my mom's neice from idaho around town last thursday. we hit granville island & chinatown.

our last day and errington's bday... we dropped off the citybound cars at the ferry terminal and then went fer bfast at the floathouse restaurant. afterwards we all piled into e's truk and made our way bak to catch the first of 3 ferries to get us home.... it was an awesome trip with great weather and good times throughout... till next time cortes...

the cortesians break out this special party theme just once every four years... moustaches & beehives... since we were in camping mode none of us city girls had that much of a bee-hive but we did our best to get all dolled up!


luckily for us, the party was nice and close - literally right up the street from e's...


and much to my surprise there was some genuine mud wrestling goin on! i guess mark was talking about it the night b4 but somehow i missed out on that conversation and was in total shock! all the girls lined up along a log and judged the competition which had the guys wrestling each other 1 on1. i had only brough our point-n-clik along as i didnt want to be responsible for the big camera all nite but after i quickly filled up the onboard memory i decided i had to run back down the street to grab our other cam...


when i got bak to the party i noticed a muddy girl off in the distance... and who could it be but our lovely t-star! she was the first girl to get in the mud pit and although i missed those shots -i'm glad i had the other camera to capture these ones below!


down the road we went again (to get t into some clean clothes)...


ended up partyin there till i went to bed...


i had fun serenading with my ukelele b4 i hit the hay and then most everybody else made their way bak to the party to finish the nite off...
