last few days...

after surviving a hectic extended weekend, i think i've proven to myself that i am pretty much recuperated from the surgery in terms of energy level. on thursday and friday of last week i was at science world all day - mostly conducting interviews for the new candidates for our outreach program... it was kinda fun being on the other side of an interview and helping make the decisions as to who would work out best. although a good part of both days involved sitting at my desk or sitting in an interview there was also a fair bit of running around btwn the office upstairs and the other depts downstairs. by friday evening i was exhausted but still managed to have an enjoyable night - andrew and i went out for dinner at our favourite sushi place -"the clubhouse" and then just relaxed at home. sat morn i was up early and headed off to scottsdale mall where my mum had set up a mk booth. worked a 5 hour shift and met a bunch of people interested in the company. we were very conveniently located by the shoe store so of course i came home with a new pair. they are just flat slip on's but they are perfect for me to wear around the house (will post a pic later). saturday night we went for dinner at "hon's on robson" followed by a bit of browsing robson's late night shopping (and of course came a way with a couple fun treats). on Sunday my mom and i worked the last shift at scottsdale together and then packed up the display. driving home that night i saw the burns bog fire and as soon as i was north of 64th in delta it was smokey till i got to richmond. monday morning i headed bak to my parents and by the time i got to the knight street bridge the smoke from burns bog had drifted all that way. when my mom and i were driving to our monday night mk meeting (which is on the delta side of the massey tunnel) we could see all the helicopters and planes carrying water to the fire site. it's crazy seeing all the smoke billowing from the treetops. anyways, this morning when i took poki for a walk to the bakery, the air was filled with smoke and i can hardly believe it has made it all the way to downtown vancouver. meanwhile my parents still have clear skies although they are really quite close to the bog - the wind is just blowing it our way instead. hopefully the fire will get put out soon!

victory square
wow, terminal city (weekly music paper) knows how to throw a good block party... all the best local bands were there and it was a great way to spend an end-of-summer sunny day with frenz. mind you i did end up overdoing things by thinking i was ready to ride my bike downtown. but still it was worth it... we missed our friends bands fond of tigers, and the christa min but caught most of the rest of the show (took a short walk thru gastown to the oceanfront in between). book of lists, calamalka, ladyhawk, p:ano, and pink mountaintops all played great sets and dj sipreano kept it rollin along 1pm - 8pm.
